Summary: Messy food related fluff with the boys. Yeah, that about covers it...
AN: Reposted from a comment on fififolle’s lj last night, because she sounded a bit fed up and in need of the boys.
The kitchen looked like something had exploded. Flour was coating practically every surface and a large area of the floor, water had splashed across the worktop and run down the cupboard doors, and there was eggshell and what looked suspiciously like yolk splattered up the tiles.
Standing in the middle of all this chaos was a particularly bedraggled and despondent looking Connor. He appeared to be wearing about half a bag of flour down the front of his t-shirt.
“Do I even want to know what happened?” Ryan asked, surveying the scene from the relative safety of the kitchen doorway.
“I wanted to surprise you,” Connor said.
“Well, that worked. I certainly wasn’t expecting this when I got home.”
“No!” Connor wailed. “I was trying to do something nice for you. Cook dinner, with proper home-made Yorkshire pudding and everything, not just premade instant Yorkshire puddings. But then it went a bit wrong and the bag split and I messed it up again!” He flailed his arm in frustration, wafting more flour around.
“Hey.” Ryan crossed the distance in a few steps and gathered Connor up in a slightly messy hug. “It’s really sweet of you, Connor, I love that you made the effort.”
“Nothing to be sorry for.” Ryan searched for a clean patch, and ended up kissing Connor’s forehead. “Now, why don’t we get this place cleaned up a bit, and then the two of us have a pancake blitz together?”
“I think you’d better be in charge of the pancakes,” Connor said, looking slightly less forlorn than he had a moment earlier.
“That’s okay. I’ll leave you in charge of the golden syrup and chocolate sauce.”
“Am I allowed to put chocolate sauce on anything else as well as pancakes?”
Ryan rolled his eyes. “Maybe. If you’re very good.”
Connor grinned. “Now there’s an offer you don’t get every day.”
