I wasn't going to read these episode reviews until I had seen the new ones but BBC America still does have any dates to show the second half of the season. So I might as well at least read what happens since I might not get a chance to see them. It is a bummer because I keep seeing all these lovely gifs of the episodes. (Especially Icarus/Pythagoras and Jason/Diocles.)

These episodes are sounding very intriguing. I agree that having Jason's darkened heart be for a magical reason kind of cheapens it.

I always thought he might go a bit evil due to finding out about his parents but also because he has been through a lot in the last couple of years. I know the show brushed over his adjustment from being raised in our time and being suddenly thrust back into the world of Atlantis with so many people expecting so much from him.

My theory was that maybe the show didn't so much brush over it as Jason had just not dealt with it maybe he suppressed the anxiety, fear, and trauma from the shift. And so when everything goes downhill all of that suppressed emotion turns into anger because we've seen Jason doesn't know how to deal with emotions. And like you said all of the pillars of stability that he had built in Atlantis are falling. So his actions become worse and worse because he once again feels out of control plus he hasn't had much time to so much as breathe much less process all that has happened. But apparently I am wrong and it is "magic"

Sorry for rambling but I miss this show and miss talking about it.

Thank you so much for such a great review it makes the pain of not being able to watch a lot better! :)

Ugh, it is so frustrating that America isn't showing it, and isn't giving any indication of when it might show it. Maybe the dvd might be released soon, once it's finished over here?

I like your theory! That would have been far more interesting from a character development point of view than what they actually *did* with the hand-wave, hand-wave 'magic' explanation.
