Well, I think you got on better and quicker than me with all of this! I still haven't managed an icon, even though I've had some hints. Memo to self, must stop being lazy. I also made a ghastly mess of my first post and managed it twice, no idea how, but some helpful moderator sorted it out for me. And I still tend to forget tags.

Hope you don't mind, but I've added you as a friend, as I like your writing and it saves me checking though sites to see who's posting to Primeval_ITV and who's posting to Primeval_fanfic. I've tended to put my slash on the fanfic site, but I have posted to Primeval_ITV if non-slash, and occasionaly to Primeval 100 for drabbles. Although I'm not always clear who uses which site, or why! But Friends Page is an easy way to keep track of who's posting where.

Cheers, and have fun :)

Okay, Ive added you as a friend as well, because ditto on the writing.

I spent most of the weekend faffing with my shiny new livejournal trying to sort out what to do. I got a bit of help from a friend who talked me through actually setting it up and starting to add friends (basically I nicked most of our mutual friends off her live journal list - a lot quicker than searching for people). As for the icons, a friend of mine sent me the deinonychus icon as one of the first posts to my journal, and then talked me through how to set it up as a the default. Basically, I had a lot of help.

Also, to be honest, I've been lurking onthe Primeval communities for months now and writing fanfic that was just sitting on my hard drive and going nowhere until I got a journal. I finally decided now was the time, and I really wanted to put my fic out there, so necessity became the mother of fast learning!

Although it did take about five attempts to post my fic to the Primeval_ITV comm!

I was wondering about what didctates what gets posted to which community. Obviously slash and 15+ rated stuff seems to end up on Primeval_fanfic, and the PG stuff seems to end up on Primeval_ITV, but is there any rule saying PG stuff *can't* be posted to Primeval_fanfic as well? I'm confused, and wondering if I should cross post 'Dazed and Confused' to the fanfic site as well.

Any ideas?

(PS. looking forward to the next chapter of your Stephen/Ryan)

I asked a couple of people for advice early on, and there don't seem to be any hard and fast rules, but there do seem to be some people who frequent one site more than another, so there's no harm in cross-posting to the fanfic site as well. As far as I can tell, the people who post most slash, and those who started to post to Friday Porn (we have have collectively neglected for a couple of weeks due to holidays)seem to go mostly for fanfic rather than itv. I based my choice mainly on the fact that the girl who moderates itv doesn't seem to like smut (but has no objection to it being posted provided it's behind a cut). I wasn't at all sure of my posting abilities at first, and didn't want to give offence in case I messed up the post, so I stuck the slash on fanfic, but have posted a bit of softer stuff to itv as I wanted to support it because I'd enjoyed reading it, if that ramble makes sense.

There's certainly no rule that PG stuff can't be posted to fanfic. I think you'll find people over there will like it just as much. I've found everyone who posts really friendly, and I've started to do more cross-posts with a few people as you sort of fall into dialogues, here and there about other random stuff on people's own journal's which is fun.

I'm considering posting some of my original fic on my own site, as one email friend, Grondfic, who has read stuff and commented for me in the past is also a LJ user, and it seems and easier way that just sending email attachments all the time. It might get me back into my own stuff, which I have to admit, I have been sadly neglecting recently. But the fanfic has been fun, and I certainly haven't finished with these boys yet!

Cheers :)
