England - Ireland Six Nations rugby match
Well, that's two hours of my life that I'm never going to get back again.

*pouts*

Oh, wait, they just scored a try and converted in the last two minutes, but it was still pretty crap.

Wasn't it dire! I missed Scotland v Italy because Fred and I went to a Dark Ages day school today -- I hear that match was crap as well *g*.

I missed the Scotland game as well because I was out at a living history fair, but we rushed back so that I could watch the England game. Kind of wish we hadn't bothered with the rushing now.

Ooh, what was the dark ages thing like?

I was going to do a little bit about it on my LJ when I've finished reading your VS3 story *g*. There were some interesting bits, but the bloke's presentation was a bit unfocussed and he jumped around something awful. And we got the feeling he was very specialised in his area, as there were some bits where he was clearly out of his depth when people asked questions. But it was definitely worth going to.

but it also proves that you iz an intelectual, so it can't have all been bad!

The living history fair wasn't bad. It was mostly re-enctors type stalls selling replica swords and weapons, and a lot of costume and handicraft type stuff. I was 'persuaded' by my friends to try on several leather corsets, none of which actually fitted my body shape, and I have to admit I was more enthusiastic about the replica Roman swords.

LOL, we iz intellectuals! And it was definitely worth the effort.

The fair sounds cool. Did you buy anything?

only a couple of books for friends' birthdays. Nothing for myself, unfortunately.

Were the swords super-duper expensive?

to be honest I didn't even look at the price tags for most of them. Although some of them were very pretty. I just really like historical weapons and armour, and I'd love to have a sword, probably a Roman gladius, mounted on my wall, but they are just soooooo expensive usually. It varies from stall to stall, but they're generally over £100, and sometimes over £200 for a really nice one with scabbard and everything. And I'm not going to spend that much on what is effectively just an ornament right now.

Erk! Scary price alert!

I've got a sword, but I can't remember how much I paid for it. It's quite pretty, especially the scabbard :)

It's pretty sharp though - the last bellydance sword workshop I was at ended up with someone being carted off in an ambulance with blood pouring out of her foot (an the one shw was using was the same as mine).

Eek! Hope she was OK!

I know kerry_louise collects swords and has some amazing ones -- she sent me some pictures of them.

eep! Not good.

Quite a few of my friends also collect swords, although most of them tend to be blunted, especially the big heavy ones. I tend to prefer the smaller short swords, though.

That match was so very depressing :( And Martin's face/reaction after Danny's sinbinng was not a pretty sight!

I kept hoping it would get better, that they might actually do something interesting with the ball, but they never did. I think Martin's reaction said it all, really.

*reads about the pretty weaponry* Sounds good :D Hope you had a fun day!

Other than the rugby of course. I haven't even been watching the Scotland matches. I did watch about a minute, but even the muscley bodies weren't enough to keep me viewing ;)

the weaponry was very pretty. So were the shields, I love sheilds (because I'm a bit wierd like that). I don't think I've watched a single match involving Scotland so far this Six Nations.

I like shields too *g* They have an air of mystery.
